Although the day is celebrated around the glove, the focus is sometimes different from region to region. Various focuses include (1) the general celebration of respect, appreciation and love for women and (2) a celebration of the achievments women have made in economics, politics, and society as a whole. It is a day meant to glorify and women around the world and all of their accomplishments.
In some regions, they view it as simply another day for mens and children to buy presents and gifts for their mothers, wives, sisters, grandmothers and other family members and friends - similar to Valentine's or Mother's Day.
