International Women's Day, also reffered to as Women's Day, Woman's Day, National Women's Day, or International Working Women's Day, is an international celebration that is on March 8th of each year. Although the day is celebrated around the glove, the focus is sometimes different from region to region. Various focuses include (1) the general celebration of respect, appreciation and love for women and (2) a celebration of the achievments women have made in economics, politics, and society as a whole. It is a day meant to glorify and women around the world and all of their accomplishments.
In some regions, they view it as simply another day for mens and children to buy presents and gifts for their mothers, wives, sisters, grandmothers and other family members and friends - similar to Valentine's or Mother's Day. United Nations has led the charge to bring more political and social awareness to this special day in order to examine the struggles that women experience across the world in a hopeful manner. it is common for people to wear purple ribbons on International Women's Day.
