The New York Comedy Festival is a five-day event held each year throughout New York City. The festival was started in 2004 and now boasts more than 200 guest comedians delivering routines for crowds all over NYC. National headliners and local comics garner laughs from audiences at Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden, The Paley Center, and over 20 other venues. The event is organized by Comedy Central and Carolines on Broadway.
As part of the festival's ten year anniversary in 2014, an all-star Stand Up for Heroes gala was thrown to raise funds for veterans. Famous comedians who have graced the stage at the festival include Jerry Seinfeld, Jon Stewart, Ricky Gervais, Amy Schumer, Tracy Morgan, and Dane Cook. The event is in November, and tickets usually go on sale in August.
