Hosted by the United States Tennis Association (USTA), the United States Open Tennis Championship, commonly referred to as the US Open of Tennis, is an open tennis tournament held in the United States every year. Since 1978, the US Open has been held at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center at the Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens, New York, United States. It is also one of the four major tennis touranments, along with the Australian Open, the French Open, and Wimbledon. The tournament is held over a two-week period in late August and early September of every year. The two-week tourney is always held during the weekend before and after Labor Day weekend.
Within the US Open Tennis Championship there are 5 different types of championships: men's singles, women's singles, men's double, women's doubles, and mixed doubles.
Held for the first time in 1881, the US Open is one of the world's oldest tennis tournaments.
