|What is Cheyenne Frontier Days?|
The Cheyenne Frontier Days festival and rodeo is held on the last full week of July each year. The Wyoming city of Cheyenne hosts 200,000 people annually at this festival, where attendees enjoy a carnival midway, an air show, and professional bull-riding. Competitors in the rodeo compete for over a million dollars in prizes, while trick riding and other spectator events round out the program. Walk-through exhibits include a Native American Village, a saloon, and other reenactments of the Old West.
Rather than simply having a single opening or closing day parade, a typical Cheyenne Frontier Days festival features four parades through downtown Cheyenne during the 10 day event. Square dancing and chuck wagon cook-offs tire the feet and tantalize the tongue. An old fashioned melodrama provides nighttime entertainment that is suitable for the whole family. Famous rock and country acts grace the stage with a typical lineup featuring names as big as Alabama, Aerosmith, Toby Keith, and Trace Atkins.
