Created in 1970, the NFL Pro Bowl game is the annual all-star game of the National Football League, commonly known as the NFL. From 1970 to 2013, the best players from both the American Football Conference (AFC) and National Football Conference (NFC) faced off in the game that was officially known as the "AFC-NFC Pro Bowl." In 2014 the format changed to include a fantasy draft setup. Two captains are chosen each year to draft players onto their teams four-days before the football game.
The Pro Bowl game is unique when compared to other league's all-star games. Typically all-star games occur halfway through the season but the football all-star game occurs after the NFL regular season has ended. Originally the Pro Bowl was played on the weekend following the Super Bowl but beginning in 2010 it has been played one week before the NFL Championship.
