The Orange Bowl, currently sponsored by Discover, is a major annual college football bowl game played in the Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Florida, United States. It was first played on January 1st, 1935 and is tied for the second oldest bowl game along with the Sugar and Sun bowl games. In 2001 and 2005, the Orange Bowl hosted the BCA National Championship Game.
Currently, the football game features the ACC (since 2006) and SEC/BigTen (beginning in 2015) conference champions. With the new BCA playoff system, the Orange Bowl, along with the Rose, Sugar, Cotton, Peach and Fiesta bowl games, will experience a three-year rotation in hosting a BCA semifinal game. When it is not hosting a semifinal game, the bowl game will feature its regular conference champions. If one of the conference champions is playing in a different semifinal game then the next team in the respective conference's standings will play in the game.
Previously airing on NBC, CBS, and ABC networks, the Orange Bowl currently airs on ESPN's network.
