First played in 1933, the MLB All-Star Game often times called the Midsummer Classic, is Major League Baseball's annual exhibition game that showcasing two teams comprised of the best players from the National League and American League. The starting players for each roster are chosen by the fans with the managers getting the opportunity to select the pitchers and the reserve players. Typically, the game is played on the 2nd or 3rd Tuesday in July and symbolizes the middle of the MLB baseball season. Other events to occur during the MLB All-Star Game weekend include the Home Run Derby and the Celebrity Softball game.
In 2014, The game was hosted at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota; home of the Minnesota Twins. Over 41,000 people watched as the American League All-Stars defeated the National League All-Star Team by a score of 5 to 3. Mike Trout was awarded the Most Valuable Player award.
