What is Coke Zero 400? | ![]() |
The Coke Zero 400 is a yearly NASCAR stock car race held at Daytona International Speedway. It follows the Daytona 500 each year and is part of the Sprint Cup Series. The Speedway can hold over 140,000 spectators. This venue was among the first to hold nighttime races and to institute the use of restrictor plates to limit top motor power and increase safety. As with many restrictor plate races, the Coke Zero 400 is known for close finishes-since putting a cap on the power of vehicles tends to cause cars to race in packs with no clear leader. Because the race is held near July 4th and runs into the evening to finish under lights, the event is concluded with vivid fireworks displays.
