Pryzstanek Woodstock is an annual open-air rock music festival that welcomes an average of 625,000 attendees each year. It takes place every August in a town called Kostryzn nad Odra. Poland's largest private non-profit organization, The Grand Orchestra of Christmas Charity, organizes the event each year. Acts have included The Prodigy, Juliette Lewis, Caliban, Nigel Kennedy, and The Stranglers. Approximately 30 bands perform over the long weekend, and genres from folk to metal and reggae may be featured in addition to rock. The festival was started in 1995 and was inspired by the original Woodstock festival in Bethel, New York in 1969. Poland's Woodstock Festival has a similar theme of "Love, Friendship, and Music." Despite its size, the festival has a reputation for being one of the safest and most peaceful of Poland's large outdoor events.
