The Pitchfork Music Festival is a yearly outdoor music fest hosted in Chicago, Illinois, over a three day weekend. The July festival is hosted in Union Park, where approximately 55,000 visitors gather to listen to more than 40 artists and bands from around the world. Genres range from hip-hop, rock, and alt-rock to electronic dance music. Lineups have included performances by Chrvches, Sleater-Kinney, Chance the Rapper, and Panda Bear. The Pitchfork Music Festival was held simultaneously with the Intonation Music Festival in 2006, but has since run by itself.
Attendees can browse and purchase art and band posters while enjoying food and beverages during the summertime event. The Pitchfork festival is also home to an annual record fair sponsored by Chicago's popular community radio station, CHIRP.
