What is World Kiss Day? | ![]() |
The sixth of July is World Kiss Day, and it's a holiday that smacks of the trend toward getting back to basics. Like Hug Day, Kiss Day focuses on the benefits and joys of human touch for its own sake. But while hugs are suitable for sharing a very wide circle of friends and acquaintances, most people are more selective about who receives their smooches. That's perfectly OK. Whether it's an affectionate peck on the forehead, a formal kiss on the cheek in greeting, or an intimate osculation with a partner, kisses are sure to fly in July. You can even blow kisses to strangers on the street!
What if you want a kiss to last longer than a moment-or for more than just a day? You could always try for the world title. But be prepared for a mouth-a-thon. The current world record is held by a husband and wife team from Thailand who managed to lock lips for a full 58 hours.
