|What is Tribeca Film Festival?|
The Tribeca Film Festival is an annual event that celebrates the art of filmmaking and recognizes New York as a hub of the industry. The festival was created in 2002 by Robert DeNiro, Jane Rosenthal, and Craig Hatckoff. Over time, attendance has risen to over 3 million. It is a popular venue to debut new films from North America and around the world. More than 6,000 films are submitted to the festival in a typical year. Of these entries, over a thousand films are screened during a typical event with cinemas all over Manhattan participating.
The variety of material being screened provides film buffs and the general public with an exceptionally broad experience of modern filmography. Small studios and independent filmmakers are featured, but major studios also premier their films at the festival. Examples include About a Boy, Spider-Man 3, and Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. The event features panel discussions and Q&A sessions with cast, directors, and crew from many of the films.
