What is Pride? |
 |
Pride parades, commonly referred to as pride marches, pride events, or prive festivals, are hosted by the LGBT community as a way to celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) culture and pride. The parades are also used as a time to protest or demonstrate for legal rights for the LGBT community, such as same-sex marriage. A majority of the pride festivals are hosted once a year with many occuring in June to commemorate the Stonewall riots, which was an important event in the modern LGBT social rights movement.
