The People's Choice Awards Show is an annual show held to recognize the people and work found in popular culture. The term "popular culture" cinludes the entirety of ideas, perspectives, attitudes, images, and many others that fall under the mainstream category of a given culture. The awards have been given out since 1975 and are voted on by the general public. The People's Choice Award was created by Bob Stivers, whom is also responsible for producing the first show in 1975. Proctor & Gamble purchased the rights to the awards show from Stivers in 1982.
Some of the winners from the 1st People's Choice Awards Show cinlude the film The Sting as the people's Favorite Picture, barbra Streisand as the people's Favorite Film Actress, and John Wayne as the people's Favorite Film Actor.
The duo of Mark Burnett and Proctor & Gamble produces the show every year that is aired on CBS.
