|What is Peanut Butter Day?|
On Peanut Butter Day, it’s time to spread an extra layer on your PB&J or use the hearty paste as a dip for fresh veggies. For a more decadent option, mix it up with peanut butter cookies or cheesecake. Peanut Butter Day is celebrated by different people on different days. Some prefer the early date of January 24th and others opt for March 1st. When you’re celebrating one of the world’s favorite sandwich spreads, does it really matter which date you choose?
Here are some fun facts you might not know about your favorite bread topper: Peanut butter was invented just before 1900 and went into mass production in 1908 (that first peanut butter factory is still churning out the good stuff to this day). The average American eats about 3 pounds of this creamy or chunky food each year, spending about $800 million on the delicious legume paste. Half of all peanuts that are produced in the U.S. end up smooshed into butter—and a 12 ounce jar contains about 540 of these little goobers.
