Passover begins on the 15th day of the Jewish month of Nisan. Passover lasts for eight days and celebrates the Israelites' freedom from slavery in Egypt. Within the Jewish tradition, holidays begin with the sundown of the previous day so the Passover celebration actually begins at the sunset of the day prior.
