What is Over The Line Tourney? | ![]() |
Over the line, also commonly known as OTL, is a 3 on 3 bat-and-ball sport that isrelated to baseball and softball. Like baseball and softball, you have the batter, pitcher, and fielders. Since OTL requires three participants per team, formal or informal matches are much easier to schedule. The necessary equipment consists of a rope or lines drawn in the sand, an "official" wooden softball or little league bat, and a rubber softball (official OTL balls are unique and preferred). No baseball gloves are allowed except in women's games, however golf gloves may be used when batting.
The name "over-the-line" is a registered trademark of the Old Mission Beach Athletic Club (OMBAC) of San Diego, California, which organizes an annual tournament that is one of the city's largest summer social events. It is also known as OTL (also trademarked by OMBAC). OMBAC allows other organizations to license the trademark for their own events for a nominal fee.
