National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day was started in 2011 and is an opportunity for people everywhere to wear an ugly Christmas sweater throughout the entire day. It is estimated that at least several hundred thousand people participate in this holiday each year by wearing their Christmas sweaters to school and work. Part of the novelty of this day is that it falls on a weekday so it is a challenge to wear your ugly Christmas sweater at a time when you might otherwise be wearing normal work attire.
