What is National Hangover Day? | ![]() |
National Hangover Day is traditionally celebrated on the first day of the year, after a rousing New Year's Eve party. It's a day that was made for staying in bed with the blinds closed and a glass of water with a few aspirin on the nightstand. For those who don't learn well from their own mistakes, it's also time to down some "hair of the dog" as a cure.
Other heavy drinking occasions such as St. Patrick's Day and Super Bowl Sunday are also followed by a hangover day. Unfortunately, most Americans don't get to take a day off after those two occasions. One group of well-lubricated political activists did try to get 100,000 signatures on a petition to make the Monday following Super Bowl Sunday a federal holiday. Sadly, only about 10,000 individuals signed it and the petition died.
