|What is London Film Festival?|
The London Film Festival is the largest public film fest in the UK and hosts over 150,000 attendees annually. The autumn event has been organized by the British Film Institute (BFI) since 1953. Visitors have the opportunity to choose from over 300 full-length features, short films, and documentaries from dozens of countries.
The festival highlights emerging film-makers as well as upcoming releases from major studios. Archived films are also restored for enjoyment by a new generation of film buffs. Movie stars and directors often participate in the festival by sitting on panels to answer questions about movies and the film-making process. Films are selected to receive awards in the following categories: Best Film, Best British Newcomer, the Southerland Award, and the Grierson Award for Best Documentary. Fellowships are also awarded to up-and-coming filmmakers.
