Did you know there are amazing lobster festivals on both coasts of the United States? The Maine Lobster Festival is a summer celebration at Harbor Park in Rockport where attendees can enjoy tasty crustaceans (cooked in the world's largest lobster broiler), arts, crafts, and music. Teenage girls compete to be crowned Sea Goddess and Sea Princess, with the accompanying honor of bestowing awards at other contests throughout the festival. Musical performances range from rock 'n' roll to Celtic favorites. Attendees also have the opportunity to compete in races-including the famous Lobster Crate Races that feature a floating pathway of lobster crates in the harbor.
On the west coast in September, there's the Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival and Music Weekend. This massive food and music extravaganza welcomes 40,000 guests each year. Visitors can enjoy a wide variety of headline and local musical acts like Tapioca & the Flea or Queen Caveat. Between shows, they can party like buccaneers with the Pirate Camp and sideshow, hunting for treasure and carousing through the streets.
