The Great American Beer Festival, often referred to as GABF, is an annual beer festival held in late September or early October in Denver, Colorado. Hosted by the Brewers Association, the three-day event provides a one stop location for visitors from all over the world to taste 2,000+ beers made in America.
Founded in 1982 by a nuclear engineer named Charlie Papazian, GABF has grown from 22 participating breweries to over 500 breweries annually. Attendance has also grown to over 50,000 visitors a year.
During The Great American Beer Festival, 100+ beer judges from the United States judge the 3,900+ beers that are submitted by over 500 American breweries. There are 83 total beer-style categories that feature gold, silver, and bronze medal awards.
