What is Giffoni Film Festival? | ![]() |
The Giffoni Film Festival is an international festival that is hosted in a small Italian village called Giffoni Valle Piana in Campania, Italy. It is an event dedicated entirely to children's film and invites more than 3,000 children and teens (ages 3-18) every year to be a part of making film history. Youngsters watch a variety of kid-friendly movies and receive education about what goes into making a film. They also have the opportunity to engage in critiquing and judging films from an international selection, choosing the best films of the year to receive prizes.
In addition to the children in attendance, more than 100,000 directors, producers, film industry executives, cinema stars, and guests make the journey to the Giffonia Film Festival. Although the festival has its home near Naples, it has been hosted in a similar format in many countries including China, Australia, Argentina, and the United States (where the Giffoni Hollywood Film Festival broke records for attendance). Jon Voight, Kathy Bates, Robert DiNiro, and many other famous stars have become involved with the Giffoni Film Festival over the years.
