What is Essence Music Festival?

 

The Essence Music Festival, commonly referred to as "the party with a purpose" or simply Essence Fest, is a major music festival hosted by ESSENCE Magazine every year in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. Founded in 1995, Essence Music Festival has become the largest event that celebrates African-American cultrue and music in the United States. 

Essence Fest has been held in New Orleans, Lousiana every year except in 2006 where it was held in Houston, Texas as a result of Hurricane Katrina, which deveastated the New Orleans area.
