|What is Electric Forest Festival?|
The Electric Forest Festival, held at the Double JJ Ranch in Rothbury, Michigan, is a four day festival that regularly boasts 35,000 attendees. This summer music festival features five stages for performances and is one of the most popular events of its kind in the United States. Tickets sell out very quickly, with returning visitors getting access to early sales and special deals. Camping is available for attendees who desire a fully immersed festival experience.
Electronic Dance Music (EDM) and highly improvisational “jam band” style rock music are the main musical genres represented. Popular acts include The String Cheese Incident, Steve Angello, and Zedd. Other featured artists include Skrillex and Bassnectar. However, the lineup has become increasingly eclectic since the first Electric Forest Festival in 2011 and the festival now features everything from bluegrass to rap.
The festival has been likened to a laid-back, West Coast version of Burning Man, and is attended by a wide range of artists and fans. One of the most popular attractions at the festival is Sherwood Forest. This area of woods is illuminated with brightly colored lights in many colors and features several art installations. Visitors can meander through Sherwood at night for what has been described as a “psychedelic” experience.
