The DUMBO Arts Festival was a free, three-day arts festival held in Brooklyn, New York. At its height, the event boasted more than 400 participating artists and attracted about 200,000 visitors. 150 studios and galleries provided indoor and outdoor art exhibits and installations, while live art was created in the form of street murals, dance performances, and poetry recitals. The festival was founded in 1997 (as the Art Under the Bridge Festival) and ran for 18 years. In 2014, the event celebrated its final year. According to the organizers, the DUMBO Arts Festival had become too large to fund and manage while staying true to the original intent of non-commercialized artistic celebration.
