The dates of Comic Con 2015 in San Diego will run from Thursday, July 9th through Sunday, July 12th. Dates have been confirmed by vendors.

Comic Con International, short for Comic Convention, is an international multigenre convention held every year in San Diego, California, United States. Comic Con was founded in 1970 by a group of business men from the San Diego area that included Shel Dorf, Richard Alf, Ken Krueger, and Mike Towry. Originally it was called the "Golden Gate Comic Book Convention" before changing to "San Diego Comic Book Convention" and eventually "San Diego Comic-Con international" which is what it currently goes by. Other names that the convention is commonly referred to are Comic Con, Comic Con San Diego, or simply SDCC for short. It is the largest convention held in San Diego with over 130,000 attending the event every year.

The same group that manages and promotes Comic Con also manages Dragon Con, an annual dragon convention in Atlanta, Georgia, United States.
Comic Con 2015 runs for four days, Thursday through Sunday, but there is a special preview night held on Wedneday, July 8th, evening for professionals, exhibitors, and select guests. The convention features panels, seminars, workshops, and film previews across various pop culture and entermainment genres including, but not limited to, horror, animation, anime, manga, toys, collectibles, card games, video games, comics, and fantasy novels. Seventeen rooms are dedicated to panels and screenings with over 1,000 occuring each and every year. The size of the rooms range from 250+ seats to over 6,000+ seats.
The convention also features a huge floorspace for exhibitors to use. Movie studios and TV networks use the exhibition area to promote upcoming films and TV shows while comic book sellers and collectibles merchants use it as a place to complete transactions with the attendees. One of the most popular features is the authograph area where attendees get a chance to meet their favorite Comic Con celebrites while snagging a picture or autograph.
Various TV shows that have been promoted at Comic Con San Diego include Burn Notice, Castle, MythBusters, The Big Bang Theory, The Vampire Diaries, Fringe, Doctor Who, and even HBO/Showtime shows such as Dexter and Shameless.
