First held in 1980, the Nationwide Children's Hospital Columbus Marathon is a major marathon held every year in Columbus, Ohio, United States. The race features a flag, fast course with roughly 20% of the racers qualifying for the Boston Marathon. The number of runners in the marathon field is capped at 7,000 with the 1/2 marathon featuring 12,000 runners, which makes it one of the largest marathon events in the United States. Runner's World and USA Today both consider the event one of the best marathon events in the nation. Nationwide Children's Hospital is the main beneficiary of the marathon and over $2,000,000 has been raised since 2012. The course records for he Columbus Marathon are men's 2:11:02 by Tommy Perrson in 2010 and women's 2:28:15 in 2003 by Lyudmyla Pshkina.
